James Franco shares how McDonald’s was there for him when no one else was!

James Franco just a piece on McDonald’s in the Washington Post which details how the fast food restaurant gave him a chance to support himself while struggling as an actor. Franco starts the essay by sharing the information that McDonald’s shares have been dropping either due to the awareness of healthy food or competition from other chains.

McDonald’s has even cut costs of about $300 million to deal with the situation and how the cutting will affect jobs is unclear to Franco but he does know McDonald’s was there for him when no one else was in his time of need.

Franco details how he moved to L.A. in 1996 and dropped out of UCLA after being unable to get into the theater department. Franco then joined an unimportant acting school in the Valley, while his parents pressured him to continue his serious studies. Finally his parents told him to support himself unless he enrolls in college.

Franco describes how he tried to find jobs in all the restaurants near his apartment which he shared with other aspiring actors. Since Franco had very little work experience and had been fired repeatedly for reading on the job in high school he failed to secure a job. Until he realized he was not too good to work at McDonald’s and was hired the same day he applied.
