The film has grossed $500 million internationally and has become only the third Marvel film to reach this milestone
Avengers: Age of Ultron continues to dominate domestic box office and according to the weekend forecast the film will reach $90 million mark at the end of the weekend.
The sequel has grossed over $499.7 million internationally and $235.7 in North America, making it the 3rd Marvel film ever to get $500 million at international box office, a milestone only achieved by Iron Man 3 and The Avengers in 2012. The Avengers ended up on $895 million while “Iron Man 3” amassed $806 million worldwide.
Avengers: Age of Ultron has already beat some of the greatest Marvel films of all time such as Captain America, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Guardians of Galaxy, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: Winter Soldier.
Overall, the film has grossed 735.3 million in just 17 days and it is so without being released in China or Japan. Meanwhile, Avengers: Age of Ultron is also eyeing another milesotne of $1 billion worldwide which it is likely to be achieved in coming days. The /4/12 release in China and July 4 in Japan will certainly help the cause.
Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara comedy film “Hot Pursuit” which opened on /4/8 got a chilly reception with just $4.5 million. The film will be looking for not more than $13 million this weekend but also hoping to get some boost on Mother’s Day, Vareity reports. “Hot Pursuit” is by far one of the worst reviewed movies of Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon and is doing softer at the box office than its initial projection.
The other new entry of the week is Jack Black’s comedy film “The D Train”. Directed by Jarred Paul and Andrew Mogel also does not seem to shake the landscape of the domestic box office and is expected to gross just over $1 million this weekend.
Other films which are continued to hold their spots in the top 5 list for this week are Furious 7, The Age of Adeline and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
