Ubisoft Announces Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate launches on October 23 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Ubisoft, the French video game developer and publisher, unveiled the latest addition to its popular Assassin’s Creed game franchise. Dubbed Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the new instalment brings players to an epic set in London at the height of the Industrial Revolution.

The game, which launches worldwide on October 23, was developed by Ubisoft Quebec in partnership with the company’s other studios around the world. Players will embody two characters— Jacob Frye and Evie Frye, twin Assassins raised to follow the Creed.

Jacob is a hot-headed and rebellious character while Evie is a master of stealth and control. Together, the twins will challenge gangs and Templars to free the masses from corruption and poverty.

According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is the most modern open-world city yet created in an Assassin’s Creed game. Expect brutal action as players use new weapons such as brass knuckles, kukri knives, revolvers and gauntlets.

The game also features a new rope launcher, akin to Batman’s nifty line launcher, which significantly speeds up the navigation. Players can also use the rope launcher to zip-line across houses and buildings. Best of all, the game now allows players to ride horse-drawn carriages. You can even throw knives at enemies, unlike previous versions.

“The ability to lead an underground gang, commandeer any vehicle on hand and use modern tools to take on an expansive and fast-paced Victorian London sets this game apart,” said Marc-Alexis Côté, creative director, Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has been in development for more than two years and this new modern take on the living open world will please Assassin’s Creed fans and newcomers alike.”

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate launches on October 23 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Ubisoft plans to release the Windows version this fall. Additionally, Ubisoft announces its annual earnings for 2014-2015. The game publisher had over €1,464 million in sales and a non-IFRS operating income of €171 million.
