Apple Incorporated has a few worries of its own. An internal Apple document reveals that it has been concerned over the recently declining sales of its iPhones.
Apple has got a case of the heebie-jeebies of late. The reason for this is the intense competition coming from outside quarters. Especially, the larger screen and lower price devices from Android were cause for concern.
Apple’s rivals are Google and Samsung. And as its copyright issue with Samsung is still pending in court, this new dilemma has cropped up. With a major sea change in the market, the web of wonder that Google is about to build /4/give Apple a run for its money.
The pressure on Apple is very great indeed. Its opponents do not want to waste a single chance of hurting it in the popularity game. And Samsung spends much more than Apple on marketing and advertising. While Apple spent a modest one billion dollars for this purpose, Samsung spent more than ten times that amount much to the chagrin of Apple.
A report was compiled that clearly proves that most of the accruing profits came from either devices that cost more than $300 or those that cost less than $300. And this is kind of ironic yet it is true as well.
“Competitors have drastically improved their hardware and in some cases their ecosystems,” a member of Apple’s sales team wrote in a document that was prepared as part of a fiscal 2014 offsite meeting, according to Recode.
The iPhone is in decline and Apple has every right to be apprehensive over this new issue that has just emerged on the horizon. The Senior Vice President of Apple, Phil Schiller however had reservations about this report.
Nevertheless, he did agree on one point: the massive amounts of money spent on ads. Samsung’s Super Bowl ad was a case in point. It made the execs at Apple literally fume and rage. Apple needs to pick up the pieces and proceed to make something out of them.
“I watched the Samsung pre-superbowl ad that launched today,” he wrote in one missive. “It’s pretty good and I can’t help but thinking ‘these guys are feeling it (like an athlete that can’t miss because they are in a zone), while we struggle to nail a compelling brief on iPhone.”
It went wrong way back in the late 90s but there was a Steve Jobs to help the company steer its way out of near bankruptcy. But Steve Jobs is no longer alive and it is up to Tim Cook to do something about this reversal in the giant tech firm’s fortunes.
