A man in the UK survived an attack with a sawed off shotgun because of his iPhone 5c.
A new Police report revealed how an iPhone 5c saved a man’s life being shot at with a sawed off shotgun from close distance. Chesire Police released a report about a teenager that has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a man outside his home in Widnes last October.
Detective Inspector Gary McIntyre said in the report: “Fortunately, the victim’s mobile phone took the brunt of the shot and, as a result of this, he survived. This is remarkable – had that phone not been in his pocket at that time he would undoubtedly have died.” The victim still has to go through treatments and further operations though.
ITV (via Business Insider) has published an image of the damaged iPhone 5c. The plastic back of the iPhone 5c was strong enough to withstand the impact of the little pellets from the shotgun ammunition.
Keeping an iPhone inside a jacket pocket can save your life unless the attacker uses a bigger gun. The internet of course has tested this. Watch an iPhone 5s getting shot at with a 50 caliber.
Concerned people should rather invest in a bullet proof vests than rely on their iPhone to save their lives in a gun attack.
