- Casey Kasem’s widow won’t be prosecuted for Elderly abuse!
Casey Kasem’s widow Jeam Kasem won’t be prosecuted for elderly abuse charges filed by Casey’s three children from a previous marriage.
Jean Kasem the widow of the radio personality Casey Kasem will not be prosecuted for charges of elderly abuse. The charges were filed by the three children of Casey Kasem. On Friday an L.A. prosecutor confirmed they won’t be filing the charges as Casey Kasem received around the clock care in his final days and it would not be appropriate to prosecute Jean Kasem.
The decision was released by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s along with a charge evaluation sheet which showed the details of the consistent medical care he received in his final days. According to the decision due to the long standing health problems faced by Casey Kasem the case would not be able to go beyond reasonable doubt in front of a jury.
In June 2014 Casey Kasem passed away from Dementia and a form of bedsore after Jean Kasem took him away to Washington State. The couple had been married for more than 30 years but in the last few days of their time together Jean had been stripped of medical control over Casey.
Jean Kasem checked Casey Kasem out of a Los Angeles medical facility where he was receiving 24 hours care. Casey Kasem’s daughter Kerri Kasem was made the conservator and demanded the LAPD arrest Jean Kasem following Casey’s death for Elder abuse.
The elder abuse charged were called for in a January press conference held by three of Casey Kasem’s children from a previous marriage. The LAPD declared a bedsore is not good enough of a reason for prosecution due to the overall deteriorating health of Casey Kasem.
Kerri Kasem has however stated she will seek the charges against Jean Kasem in Washington state, while Jean Kasem claims she only moved Casey to Washington to protect his privacy, according to Billboard.
