Alex Rodriguez owes more than $380,000 in pending legal fees and is about to be sued over the amount by his lawyer.
Alex Rodriguez tried to overturn his steroid suspension case via a little help from his lawyer. But now he has more issues than just drugs.
His lawyer David Cornwell is up to his neck with Alex’s dilly-dallying ways as far as payments are concerned. He wants out. So he is suing Alex to the amount of $380,000 which he says Alex owes him.
The charges were filed in a court in Manhattan. According to the lawsuit, Rodriguez was procrastinating in matters of payment at the prompting of Desiree Perez who was one of Jay-Z’s assistants at Roc Nation.

The lawyer and his firm Gordon & Rees furthermore report that Alex himself said this much that at the instigation of Desiree he was delaying the deal.
“Most recently, Mr. Rodriguez admitted that his advisers at Roc Nation, most specifically, Desiree Perez, instructed him ‘not to pay the invoices, and to make Gordon & Rees sue’ him,” the 12-page complaint says.
The law firm, Gordon & Rees wants the full amount after the rest of the fees have been added. And this adds up to a total of about half a million dollars.
However, we always need to hear both sides of the story. Alex Rodriguez’s spokesperson said that while Alex had paid some of the fees, the rest that were pending were actually being imposed on Alex as an extra burden and were absolutely unnecessary.

“Alex Rodriguez has already paid substantial legal fees to this firm,” said A-Rod’s. “There are additional fees being sought from hours that continued to be billed and are the source of the disagreement between the parties. Alex looks forward to swiftly resolving this matter and moving on.”
There appears to be a conflict over the payments left over. And it is here that only after thorough investigation in the court of law will a decision be reached in the favor of one or the other party.
But the law firm affirms the fact that Desiree Perez has great influence over Alex and she is forcing him to fight the MLB instead of retiring after his doping scandal.
“Alex Rodriguez says Desiree Perez, a convicted drug dealer that works at Jay Z’s Roc Nation, told him not to pay his legal fees with respect to the his historic 211-game suspension for using PEDs,” Daily News legal analyst Tom Harvey said Monday.
“Now he is getting sued by his attorneys and we will likely learn what A-Rod told his legal eagles, but we will also likely hear about Desiree Perez and Roc Nation’s involvement in the sordid litigation.”

The MLB has not responded to the whole affair so far. But things will be coming out in the open soon. Actually Alex carries grudges in his heart against the law firm that lent him his services.
He thinks that it failed him big time. Alex is not in good shape either since he has had two surgeries. Whether he will ever rejoin the MLB remains an uncertainty.
