Alicia Keys along with David Byrne will be performing at the annual Black Ball charity gala this year.
For the first time, Keep a Child Alive’s 11th annual Black Ball event is offering a musical collaboration and the rock legend, David Byrne along with Alicia Keys will take the stage, according to Billboard.
This year’s venue for Black Ball is the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and it will take place on the 30th of October. Besides being a co-founder, Keys is also the event host for the Black Ball. This event has provided HIV treatment to bereaved children who are suffering from AIDS since 2003.
Bono, Jay Z, David Bowie, Adele and many others have shared the stage with the R&B singer-songwriter at former Black Ball events. In an interview with the press, Keys says that she is really excited about the fact that she will be performing with David Byrne this year at the Black Ball event.
She also said that David Byrne’s work has always inspired her and his ability to combine art and music has always impressed her. In addition to this she said, “David and I have been talking about his new music and what we’re going to perform and just the thought of it is amazing!”
Leigh Blake is the co-founder of the Keep a Child Alive charity. Byrne said that he was being approached by his friend Leigh Blake to become a part of a Red Hot & Blue charity event, many years ago.
And he said that it was an amazing experience for me. In addition to this he said when Keys requested me to participate in this year’s Keep a Child Alive Black Ball fundraiser I immediately agreed.
Angel Haze will also take the stage at this year’s Keep a Child Alive fundraiser. Alicia Keys released her new song called “We Are Here” last month and the song was a big hit.
