Amazon Prime Members Stream Tens of Millions of Songs in First Week

Amazon unveiled usage statistics of their new free music streaming service and they look impressive.

Amazon has a very strong consumer base accumulated in their Prime service. It is rather easy for them to launch new services with huge success on to of Prime. Today Amazon revealed usage statistics of their new free Music Prime streaming service that are impressive, but not surprising.

in Prime Music, Prime members streamed tens of millions of songs—that’s millions of hours of music—and added tens of millions of songs and more than a million Prime Playlists to their music libraries.

Prime Music was criticized for its rather thin music portfolio and the lack of current hits. Still, members found enough content to listen too.

Prime Music launched on June 12, giving millions of U.S. Prime members unlimited, ad-free access to over a million songs at no additional cost to their membership. Prime Music is the latest benefit of Amazon Prime and joins unlimited Free Two-Day Shipping on more than 20 million items, unlimited streaming of tens of thousands of popular movies and TV episodes through Prime Instant Video and access to more than 500,000 books to borrow for free with the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
