Amazon’s Web Business Could Hit $6 Billion this year

AWS is Amazon’s fastest growing segment and enjoys its highest profit margins

It has been years since Amazon Web Services has been the king of cloud computing and has remained the number one choice for most of the business for their cloud computing solutions but still there was no indication of how much the company was earning.

To put this right, Amazon has released its first quarterly earnings report today in which it has reported the financials for the Amazon Web Services division. This is the first time the earnings of the AWS services have surfaced and they seem pretty impressive. The report states that the AWS division is a “$5 billion business and growing fast.”

For the first quarter alone, the AWS division was able to bring in $1.57 billion in revenue which showed an increase of $1.1 billion as compared to the last year. If you had the chance of looking at the previous Amazon reports, you would notice that this information was put under the ‘Other’ section.

Amazon’s division seems to be the doing well enough and it is so far the only division which is actually profitable and in Q1 had $265 million in profits.
