The first generation Android Wear smartwatches are on their way to the fire sale block. A week ago the the LG G Watch got sold for $50 ($179 off) and now the Moto 360 is offered at a steep discount by Best Buy.
The first generation Android Wear watches feel the pressure of the Apple Watch first. Retailers have started to clear their inventory on these smartwatches as they are no match for the Apple Watch at their regular pricing. A week ago AT&T sold the LG G Watch for $50, marking the begin of the Android Wear Fire sale.
The Motorola Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch is considered as one of the best first generation Android Wear smartwatches. The Moto 360 has a regular price of $249. Best Buy has slashed the price to $149.99 during the 4-Day Memorial Day sale. This is a steep $100 discount. The discount of $100 also applies to the more expensive models. The recently added Moto 360 Dark Metal is also on sale for $199.99 instead of $299.99.
The most expensive Moto 360 (Champagne) is also part of this sale and the $100 discount brings the price down to $229.99.
Features of the Moto 360 include wireless charging, pedometer, heart rate monitor, stain-less-steel, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass, 1.56″ LCD touch screen with 320x290px resolution, water-resistant, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, Bluetooth 4.0 and built-in microphone.
The first generation Android Wear smartwatches include the Asus ZenWatch, LG G Watch, Moto 360, Samsung Gear Live and Sony SmartWatch 3. We believe that all of these smartwatches will be soon available at steep discounts. The LG G Watch has one of the weakest specs of the six first generation Android Watches with missing GPS and and Wi-Fi. This is why this smartwatch is first of the fire sale block.
Apple has still not caught up with demand for the Apple Watch which started to ship on April 24. Currently customers have to wait 6 to 7 weeks for the shipment of most Apple Watch models. Starting at $349 prices range up to $17,000 depending on the model. There are 34 style combinations available of the Apple Watch. Apple’s Tim Cook said that the Apple Watch will be finally be sold in stores starting in June.
