The Apple Watch is a far more complex purchase than the iPhone. Apple has prepared a whole new sales experience for their newest product category.
The Apple Watch is very different beast. Apple mixed consumer electronics with fashion with their newest creation. There are 34 styles of the Apple Watch available at launch. This makes it difficult for consumers to make their decision. To make the process as smooth as possible and also scalable, Apple devised a special purchase experience for the Apple Watch in Apple Stores.
9to5Mac has revealed over the weekend the details of the Apple Watch buying experience. It all starts with making a try-on appointment. Walk-ins will have to wait for a free slot. A sales specialist takes customers to a display table shown in the leaked photo above to pick out Apple Watch models.
The customer can try on up to two models in a special try-on area with special try-on Apple Watch models. These try-on Apple Watches will run in demo loops, but features such as Haptic Feedback will be functional so customers can experience that feature. The Watches can actually be tried on the customer’s wrist.
Apple will also reportedly offer a virtual online Apple Watch try-on experience. Additionally for the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition customers a virtual personal setup will be available.
If this whole Apple Watch decision making is too much of a hassle for you (90% of males) here is our short-cut: $399 Apple Watch Sport 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band. Why this model? It is black. It is the lowest priced large display model.
The Apple Watch is generation one. All Apple generation one products are outdating the fastest. Just look at the first iPhone (had only GSM) and the iPad 1 (was too slow). In a year from now there will be the Apple Watch that will be much better than the Apple Watch 1 and it will be time to buy a new one.
About the Apple Watch
Apple Watch introduces a new design and iOS-based user interface created specifically for a smaller device. Apple Watch features the Digital Crown, a new way to scroll, zoom and navigate fluidly, without obstructing the display. The Digital Crown also serves as the Home button and a quick way to access Siri. The Retina display on Apple Watch features Force Touch, a technology that senses the difference between a tap and a press, providing a new way to access controls within Apple Watch apps.
The Apple Watch introduces the Taptic Engine and a built-in speaker that together discreetly enable an entirely new vocabulary of alerts and notifications you can both hear and feel. Apple custom-designed its own S1 SiP (System in Package) to miniaturize an entire computer architecture onto a single chip. Apple Watch also features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 4.0 to pair seamlessly with your iPhone. Besides the smart watch features the Apple Watch keeps time to within 50 milliseconds of UTC, the universal time standard when synching regularly with the iPhone.
The Apple Watch starts at $349 for the small case (38mm) Sport Edition. The Apple Watch Pre-order starts on April 10 in 9 countries (Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK and the US) and the Apple Watch ships on April 24.
