Apple’s Sapphire Plant in Arizona to Churn out ‘Critical’ New Component in February

Apple is to begin operations in its Arizona sapphire plant in February. It will churn out a critical new component that /4/be used in an entirely different way in some future product.

A while back Apple announced its Arizona plant where sapphire crystals would be manufactured. The sapphire glass is used in the iPhone screen as well as in the Touch ID panel of the iPhone 5S. 

But now according to a document obtained by 9to5Mac, a critical new component will be created on a wholesale basis at the plant. The plant, which is owned jointly by Apple and GT Advanced Technologies, will hire new staff and workers. 

Apple is asserting its right to utilize the manufacturing facility for its future purposes. While there is an element of mystery in all the plans wrought by Apple, they become common knowledge to the public with the passage of time. 

February is the date set for commencement of live operations in the sapphire plant. Apple is not to delay matters any longer. This comes straight from Tim Cook who is the current CEO of Apple. 

However, the exact utility of the sapphire component remains a top secret. The component will probably be put to a novel use. It /4/be that the sapphire will be used to make the entire screens scratchproof. 

Several other materials are used at the plant too. Diamond cutting wire for example has been employed to make bezels for various products. Apple has always stood for innovation and it seems that the sapphire plant is just a means to this end.
