Ben Affleck regrets for asking PBS to hide Slave-Owning Ancestor

Ben Affleck and PBS slave controversy is getting worse by the second.

Ben Affleck’s ancestors were slave owners. This knowledge was suppressed so that the public wouldn’t find out and so that they don’t start hating Ben Affleck. A network did a story on Ben Affleck and they made a program on Affleck’s family lineage.

They did omit some big details as they didn’t air the news that Ben Affleck’s ancestors were slave owners. His ancestors kept slaves in the South of America. Ben Affleck didn’t tell the PBS genealogy based TV series Finding Your Roots to leave out those slavery details.

But then WikiLeaks released a host of hacked emails from film and TV producers of Sony Pictures. Ben Affleck who is starring in the new Batman V Superman movie, is said to be very sad and he is apologizing to his fans.

The TV series left out the details from the show which aired last October. Ben Affleck even went to his Facebook page and said that he was embarrassed to have a show about his family which included a guy who owned slaves.

He said that he didn’t deserve any credit nor blame for his ancestors. The producers of the show Finding Your Roots are defending their decision to not air the details. They say that their decision was an independent editorial judgment.

Henry Louis Gates jnr. who is the host of the show was very concerned as his hacked emails said that they never censored or edited what they found and the fact that Ben Affleck was a superstar concerned them. He said that do this would be a violation of PBS rules and actually even for Batman.

Lynton told Gates to take the slavery content out of it if no one knows. And Gates was concerned that if people found out, it would embarrass Ben Affleck and it would ruin their reputation and compromise their integrity. PBS reps told SMH that the show wanted to focus on the more interesting aspects of his ancestry.
