BET Awards 2015: Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj Lead the Nominations

Beyonce and Lil Wayne have four nominations each

Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown are leading the pack of this year’s BET Award nominations as they are tied with six nominations each. 

BET released the full Awards nominees on Monday, revealing Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj as top contenders for 2015 BET Awards, followed by Beyonce and Lil Wayne who both received four nominations each. Brown wins the nominations for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist where he will be going up against the likes of Usher, John Legend and Trey Songz. Two separate nominations for the Best Collaboration category for his songs “Loyal”, featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga and “New Flame” with Usher and Rick Ross, two nominations for the Video of the Year category and another for the Coca Cola Viewers’ Choice Award. 

Minaj received nominations for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Video of the Year, two nominations for Coca Cola Viewer’s Choice Award and Best Group as a member of Young Money.

BET Awards was started in 2001 and ever since acknowledging the contributions of African-American entertainers, artists, and sports personalities. The awards are comprised of 20 categories including Best Movie, Best Athlete of the Year and Best Gospel Artist. The 2015 BET Awards will air live on June 28, 2015 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
