President Barack Obama joined Twitter yesterday and there is already the first funny Tweets flying with Bill Clinton.
President Obama joined Twitter yesterday. Within 24 hours he accumulated over 1.57 million followers. The Twitter account @Potus is a viral sensation. Potus stands for President of the United States of America. The choice of using Potus as the Twitter account name is the reason for a hilarious Twitter exchange between Bill Clinton and Obama.
Bill Clinton (3.46 million followers) welcomed Obama to Twitter and asked “Does that username stay with the office? #askingforafriend.” Obviously Bill Clinton refers to his wife Hillary who is running for President of the United States in 2016.
Obama answered with “Good question, @billclinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?” Presidents can be really funny. @FLOTUS is the Twitter handle of The First Lady Michelle Obama. FLOTOS stands for First of the United States of America. If Hillary Clinton becomes the President, Bill Clinton will be the “First Lady.”

At the rate Obama is collecting followers he will be beating his wife today, who has 1.91 million followers. If the comedy on the @Potus keeps on coming, it will be one of the most popular Twitter accounts.
Obama also Tweeted his first informative Tweet, which is an example of what most Tweets on Potus will be about.

Giving the incredible popularity of @Potus it raises indeed the question why Obama did not have a Twitter account earlier in his Presidency. It took six years to get one.
