Bob Schieffer Bids Face The Nation Goodbye

  • Bob Schieffer bids ‘Face The Nation’ goodbye after 24 years!

On Sunday Bob Schieffer the veteran news anchor retired from his long running show ‘Face The Nation’.

Bob Schieffer had been a veteran name in TV journalism for the about three decade and started his journey on the CBS show ‘Face The Nation’ about 24 years ago. Although like all good things Bob’s time on the show was also coming to an end. On Sunday Bob hosted the show ‘Face The Nation’ for the last time since having announced his retirement earlier in April 2015. 

During the broadcast of the ‘Face The Nation’ Bob gave a very heartfelt goodbye to all his viewers and fans stating he will miss it all. Bob recalled how he started he decided to become a journalist during his last night as host of ‘Face The Nation’.

Bob knew he was meant to be a reporter back in the ninth grade when he saw a byline by him in the school newspaper and the simple moment led him on a path of three decades as a reporter. 

According to Bob he will miss the feeling of being in the middle of things and the one thing he will always remember and be happy about is the trust the audience placed in him to report back to them.

Bob then stated how nice it was for him to be a part of every viewer’s home as a guest through the TV set for years and the realization meant the world to him and it will always remain that way. Finally Bob ended his last broadcast with the two magic words ‘Thank You’.  

Bob had been with the network CBS since the start of his career in 1969 and before taking over the reigns of the show ‘Face The Nation’ bob had been the chief Washington correspondent for CBS.
