Dancing With the Stars: Charlotte McKinney eliminated due to Dyslexia

Charlotte McKinney shared how her dyslexia made her unable to learn the dance moves but the rehearsal videos show her spending more time on her phone than rehearsing!

Charlotte McKinney is the second contestant eliminated from the ‘Dancing With the Stars’. The elimination was announced on Monday, however McKinney didn’t seem very surprised to learn she was going to leave. McKinney shared she had been struggling with the dancing steps due to her dyslexia, which might have contributed a lot to her poor performance on Monday.

Even in the rehearsal clips from DWTS we can see McKinney struggling to learn the left step from the right and admitted the whole routine really throws her off. McKinney’s dance partner Keo Motsepe on the other hand tried relentlessly to make sure McKinney learned the steps.

After being eliminated from DWTS McKinney elaborated her problem and told the anchor due to her dyslexia she has to learn anything through visual presentation and someone has to really explain the steps to her by showing them slowly.

Although she can get a hang of the dance steps with visual presentation, the process takes a lot of extra time and McKinney admitted she did not have all that time the previous week before her elimination. 

21 years old model McKinney told PEOPLE reps how the dyslexia affects her dancing she believed her focus on DWTS will let her play in the show but she did not look at all the facts of the situation. According to McKinney dancing is all about numbers with left and right moves and even though she accomplished a lot the entire process was really tough for her especially. McKinney stressed a lot of people don’t understand her situation and judge her just for the bad dancing moves.

On the other hand in the rehearsal videos we can see McKinney spending more time on her phone instead of learning her dance moves from Motsepe. Motsepe for his part looked completely agitated in the rehearsal videos as McKinney ignored him and with good reason too as Monday night not only booted Charlotte McKinney out of DWTS but also ended Motsepe’s run on the show. Poor Motsepe at least he tried and only stated it was challenging to teach McKinney the moves when the press asked him.

McKinney did not stop at blaming her dyslexia for elimination but even had negative remarks about the judge Bruno Tonioli who had criticized her rumba moves. Tonioli said McKinney is never going to win the Nobel Prize for quantum physics but at least her dance moves could have been good.

McKinney shared she felt the comment was uncalled for, even though it is a TV show and the judges have to judge but the comment was really hurtful for her.
