“The Rock” captured 105 selfies in three minutes, breaking the previous record of 75 selfies in the same time

Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is now an official Guinness World record holder.

The actor and wrestler set the record for most selfies in three minutes at the world premiere of his upcoming film “San Andreas” where he took 105 selfies or self-portrait photographs with the excited fans and cemented his name in the record books.

Johnson attempted the record on the red carpet of “San Andreas” at London’s Odean Leicester Square on Friday where thousands of fans were gathered besides a number of personalities from entertainment industry. By using his smartphone camera Johnson snapped 105 selfies alongside the fans who were lined up at the premiere and eager to become a part of the world record attempt.

The previous record was 75 selfies in three minutes which was virtually smashed by Johnson in the same space of time. But breaking that record was not as simple as it sounds right now. Selfies need to meet the criteria set by Guinness World Record, which could be difficult to follow while moving rapidly. Each selfie must include the face and the neck of participants. The view has to be clear, focused and recognizable to be considered as a qualified selfie.

Guinness World Record adjudicator Mark McKinley checked and made it sure that every selfie taken by Johnson was following the requirements before announcing that Dwayne Johnson is the new certified king of selfies.

“He attempted to win the Guinness World Records title of the most self-portrait photographs taken in three minutes. Dwayne captured a total of 105 selfies in three minutes on the red carpet with excited movie fans, earning him a Guinness World Records title.” the representative of Guinness World record said in a statement.

After the premier, Johnson thanked the crowd in helping him set the record. “I gotta say thank you so much, I could not have done it without everyone who was helping me. I appreciate it but I came to London to break a record and London we broke a record.”
