New Ferrari California to get turbo power
Of all the Ferrari‘s that were ever built, a few of them are cars that I never really liked. Think Ferrari Mondial offering all the high-priced Ferrari financial demands with none of the good looks. I’ve never been fond of the Ferrari California, but a new version of that car has turned up with a turbo engine and I am having second thoughts.
The new car is called the Ferrari California T and as the T in the name might suggest, this car has a turbo. That is uncommon for street-going Ferraris as the Italian automaker typically sticks to high revving naturally aspirated engines and goes with more cylinders and displacement for performance.
The 3.9L V8 under the hood is an enlarged version of the V8 under the hood of the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli reports EGMCarTech. Ferrari isn’t spilling all the beans on the car just yet. The official unveil of the car is set for the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Until then what we do know is that the California T engine will produce more power than the naturally aspirated V8 it replaces and that V8 was no slouch at 483hp. The turbo engine produces loads of torque with a rating tipped at 557 lb-ft. That is more torque than many trucks that are designed for towing offer. That turbo V8 is said to reach a rev limit of 7500 rpm. Top speed is 196mph and the sprint for naught to 60mph takes 3.6 seconds. That is a fast convertible.
