Fove, the Oculus Rift Plus Eye Tracking to Reach Kickstarter Goal Today

A new VR headset is going on the start bringing something new. FOVE is the world’s first eye tracking virtual reality headset.

The entrepreneurs behind Fove try the same path as Oculus VR to get of the ground. FOVE, the world’s first eye tracking virtual reality headset launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding projected two days ago and has raised almost their funding goal today. The counter stands at $235,000 and they are only $15,000 away from reaching their funding goal.

FOVE’s difference is that its technology reads subtle eye movements, translating them into emotionally more powerful experiences. FOVE gives users more control than ever before in the virtual worlds. FOVE tracks a user’s gaze and calculates where in 3D space a user is looking. This enables the graphics engine to adjust focus and allocate rendering resources accordingly.

Users can do things like make eye contact with other virtual characters in the virtual world.

The big question here is how difficult is it for Oculus VR to add eye tracking into the Oculus Rift. Eye Tracking seems essential for a great experience in virtual worlds.

Facebook owned Oculus VR has potentially unlimited budget. It will be hard for any other startup to by pass them. Let’s see how far FOVE can get. They are almost set with the funding the wanted to get started.
