Fox is planning to remake ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ on the 40th anniversary of the cult classic.
Fox recently announced the decision to remake the cult classic ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ on its 40th anniversary. Fox 21 studio will be producing the two hour long taped event special.
Gail Berman will be executively producing the project and Kenny Ortega is set to direct and choreograph the remake. While the original producer of the 1975 film Lou Adler will also be collaborating with Ortega on the remake project. The cast for the remake of The Rocky Horror Show has yet to be announced by Fox, according to Deadline.
The work has been underway since a long time on the network and finally a team has been assembled for the remake. In 2002 the producer Gail Berman shared he has always been a fan of the Rocky Horror since he was a teenager the project is actually filled with passion for her.
The project will be a reimagining of the cheesy horror piece and has been tentatively given the title of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event’. The Rocky Horror Picture show is still played in theatres around the world with the longest running frame for any film in history, as it was released 40 years ago.
The TV remake will be faithful to the original script and will feature the music score of the original text without any alterations, with just reimagining in the visuals of the story.
Fox was previously involved in a small tribute to the Rocky Horror Show when a special episode was dedicated to the cult classic on the musical dramedy Glee in season 2. Kenny Ortega on the other hand is known for his success in the world of musicals with the success of the phenomenal High School Musical movies.
