Not as much controversy this week as last

Anyone who has read the books that the HBO series Game of Thrones is based on knows what is going to happen in the series. Game of Thrones has lots of violence, death, and sex in the storyline. Last week’s episode left people upset at the rape of one of the main characters. Even the actors and director involved in the scene were left a bit uncomfortable.

This week’s episode had no such controversy. Jaime Lannister went so far as to hand over his sword to allow Brienne to defend Sansa Stark. As Jaime lent his sword to Sansa’s defense, Cersei ordered her brother to break his vows to protect the Stark daughters and find Sans and kill her.

Cersei believes that Sansa is the person who poisoned her son Joffrey. Jaime’s turn towards being good is a contrast to his horrible deed last week with his sister. The NYT reports that the series could be trying to drum up controversy since the sex in the book between the two, as Joffrey laid dead nearby was more consensual.

Thrones is known for wearing in things that will come to be later in the series, so the rape scene might have been just that. the episode also saw Daenerys growing her army. Some indication of who killed Joffrey was also given making this an important episode for fans. As usual, the episode certainly had a lot going on.
