Gisele Bundchen retires from Runway after Last Catwalk

Gisele Bundchen retires as a model strutting down a catwalk.

Gisele announced the retirement plan on Saturday last week after a career spanning nearly two decades in the modelling world. The reason Gisele gave for her retirement is pretty simple as her body is not in compliance with the gruelling work required to be a catwalk model and in her words Gisele’s body asked her to stop.

The 34 years old Brazilian model told the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper she has learned to listen to her body and her body now automatically tells her if what she is doing is worth it. In this case Gisele’s body told her to stop the catwalk life and as Gisele respects her body it will be a privilege for her to stop the runway work.

Gisele Bundchen writes in caption of above Instagram, “I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey. Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business.”

While Gisele is quitting the runway she is not completely going to leave the fashion world. Gisele revealed she will continue doing other work off the runway and spend more time with her family as a result.

Gisele is married to Tom Brady the New England Patriots star and has two children with him. Gisele shared she just cannot see herself continuing life on the runway and quitting will give her time for other planned projects which she did not disclose as of yet. 

According to Forbes, Gisele is the highest paid model in the world for the last eight years with a whopping earning of $47 million in 2014. Gisele is probably going to turn her attention to ad campaigns and has already worked with major fashion labels. 

Gisele graced the last runway of her life at the Colcci’s show at Sao Paulo Fashion Week and was simply glowing while modelling three different outfits; a simple white mini dress, an orange dress and a tank top with jeans. Before her last runway, she posted following Instagram with caption “Almost ready!!”
