Google announced today that Asus will launch a new type of Chrome device called the Chromebit. The device is smaller than a candy bar, but is a full computer. The Chromebit computer will be available for less than $100. Users can simply plugging the Chromebit into any display and they are ready to use the Chromebit computer. Google says that Chromebit is the perfect upgrade for an existing desktop and will be really useful for schools and businesses.
Google did not reveal more details yet about the Chromebit, but also announced today new Chromebook laptops. The Haier Chromebook 11, sold at Amazon and the Hisense Chromebook sold at Walmart. These new Chromebooks are fast, lightweight, have all-day battery life and are available for pre-order today for $149.
Google also announced that Asus will come out with a convertible Chromebook laptop. The Asus Chromebook Flip is an all-metal convertible that is 15mm thin and weighing less than two pounds. The Chromebook Flip has a keyboard and a touch screen for immersive experiences like gaming and educational apps. It will be available later this spring for $249.
The big news here is the Chromebit. Depending on performance the Chromebit could have lots of applications in the DIY community to schools and science.
