3D printing technique will help to customize and flexible manufacturing process will allow for required adjustments
It has been a while since we’ve heard about Google’s Project Ara smartphone and some days have gone by since we heard any latest news. The phone focuses on providing customized options to users but it is pretty certain that this was going to be extremely tough. After all providing full customization for users of smartphones is not an easy and simple task. This leaves confused manufacturers who have to think of ways to produce huge quantities of smartphones which are not even similar. The main question is, where will all the uncommon parts come in from?
Well, thanks to the crew at 3D Systems, we now know the answer. They have already revealed the special 3D printing technique which they will use to build the Ara. The traditional printing process has been given up for this project because it bogs down due to frequent changes in speed, in favor of a continuously moving system that’s fast enough to cope with mass production. This new technique is going to help the company generate millions of parts regardless of how special of a treatment each component requires. The manufacturing technique on the other hand is also going to be very flexible so that it can easily and readily adopt to changes.
