Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Finale Recap

The season eleven finale of Grey’s Anatomy manipulated its audience of television viewers like they were silly putty. The scenes simply pull you into their vortex and force you to watch without blinking even once.

Life is a precious thing. It is worth saving at every cost. And nowhere is this better depicted than on Grey’s Anatomy. The death scene showing McDreamy is simply unforgettable. Shonda Rhimes, the woman behind Grey’s Anatomy has decided to wrap the boob tube viewers like chewed out wads of bubble gum around her little finger. 

Derek leaves a phone message for Meredith before leaving his career midair and returning to his real family members who are desperately waiting for him. He tells her that the bright blue sky above him while he is on the ferry is so beautiful that it kind of reminds him of his days with her. He also says that he is looking forward to meeting her and spending the rest of his life hopelessly in love with her. 

The message is so poignant and full of a procession of memories that it brings a spate of tears to the common man or woman’s eyes. Meredith meanwhile saves that message on her beeper and allows Amelia an earful of it too. It was this message that forced Amelia to wave her sibling a tearful farewell and embrace Owen for a second time. 

Meredith is ready to sell off her residence and move in with her mama. But, Alex and his wife Jo already reside in that house. Jo and Alex exchange their “love bytes” and live the good life forever after.

Webber and Catherine too tie the knot and spend the rest of their days on earth in marital bliss. But it is not all peaches and cream for everyone. April decides to join the armed forces where she thinks she will find greater meaning. Jackson tells her point blank that if she does this their bond will be broken. April’s choice is anyone’s lucky guess.   

On the whole, Shonda Rhimes has seen to it that the series doesn’t lose its zing and “whodunnit?” mode of keeping the audience on the edge of their seats (till they fall down). The bizarre love-hate relationships and their fallout on the show portray human nature in its myriad shades of grey. The happiness and tears that are there in equal measure show that it’s a small world after all!
