Hillary Clinton has just announced her run for the White House on Twitter.

It has been years in the making. A second Clinton could become the next President of the United States. Hillary Clinton just announced her candidacy for President of the United States on Twitter.

She posted two Tweets. The first one says: “I’m running for president. Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion.” The second one says: “I’m hitting the trail to earn your vote. Headed to Iowa.”

As expected she is choosing an understatement approach this time around. She also released a 2 minute video showing everyday people and their challenges. Watch below. Clearly Hillary Clinton wants to connect with “normal” people. At the end of the video Hillary Clinton appears to make her announcement. As expected #Hillary2016 is the top trending Twitter hashtag right now.

This will be Hillary Rodham Clinton’s second attempt to run for the White House. In 2008 she lost against Obama in the democrat voting. There is no other big name on the Democratic side yet that will run for President. It looks like it will be a walk in the park for Clinton to get the democratic vote.

The announcement will be likely made on Hillary Clinton’s Twitter account. She has over 3.1 million followers. The number will likely go up sharply after the announcement and her announcement is expected to top the trending hashtags on Sunday. Clinton takes a page out of Obama’s grass root social media campaign that helped him win the election in 2008.

Her husband Bill Clinton was US president from 1993 to 2001. Hillary Clinton is now 67. Bill Clinton was only 46 when he took office.

Hillary Clinton released on Friday an updated version of her memoir Hard Choices. An excerpt of the new chapter can be read on Huffington Post.
