Iggy Azalea Quits Social Media over Bullying

Singer Iggy Azalea has quit social media. She announced her withdrawal on Twitter a couple hours ago. She is fed up with the bullying.

Iggy Azalea has had her fair share already in social media scandals. Her online feud with Snoop Dogg was a big topic last year. Today Iggy Azalea announced to stop posting on social media. In several Tweets she explained why she quits social media. 

She just came back from vacation and was appalled by the online comments about her having cellulite. She wrote: “Just got back from a great vacation, came online and saw apparently it’s shocking and unheard of to be a woman and have cellulite. Lol.”

She continued saying: “I just want to have peace and relaxation time without a perve with long distance lense hiding out taking pictures, everyone deserves peace. I feel the hatred and pettiness i see online at all times is at making me become an angry person and I cannot be that. To become nasty because of the way I feel iam treated would be a disservice to my fans and I promise i will try to keep smiling.

But I also want to let my fans know iam taking some time away from social media. I need to be happy and it is too negative and draining.My management will tweet/run my accounts from today onwards with updates etc unless any message is signed -IA. Love you all. Peace out!”

Iggy Azalea last Tweet reads: “The Internet is the ugliest reflection of man kind there is.”

The bullying on Twitter is not just an issue for celebrities like Iggy Azalea. Twitter has been critized for not doing enough to protect victims of cyber bullying and sexual harrassment.

If more celebrities quit Twitter that would send a clear message to the company. It is a tough problem to solve as online ethics seem to have no place online. Many internet users feel free to say whatever they want online with no reflection on what it can mean for others.

Iggy Azalea has over 4.3 million followers on Twitter. Her huge fanbase will have to get used to live without her social media updates.
