Date set after February 19th
As been the reports and the rumors that have came out over the past couple weeks, the Apple Watch is looking to have a release date sometime during the month of March. Apple CEO Tim Cook made note of an early 2015 release date for the Apple Watch during an October 2014 company event concerning the iPad. The Apple Watch has been two years in the making to come on to the consumer market and Cook says that the wait will be worth it. UK consumers should also look for an Apple Watch release date as well in March.
UK consumers had been hoping that the Apple Watch will be around for Valentine’s Day but Apple’s Senior Vice President for Retail Sales in Angela Ahrendts says that the date will come after the Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year begins on February 19th. This information makes sense as it has been reported that iPhone sales in China have exceeded that in the United States and Chinese consumers are looking forward to the Apple Watch release as well.
Ahrendts has also been an Apple exec that is confirming that the Apple Watch will come on to the market in March. The U.S. price of the Apple Watch will start at $349 and the UK price will come in at, including applicable taxes, £300. It is also stressed that consumers will need an iPhone in order for the Apple Watch to work. A companion app for the Apple Watch with the iPhone has been showcased and Apple is currently working with developers to develop apps for the Apple Watch and its release date.
Early polls have also shown that UK consumers are anxious about the Apple Watch which is on par with the rest of the world. The Apple Watch will be compatible with all of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 offerings.
