iPhone 7 Imagined by Martin Hajek

German Computer Bild hired Martin Hajek, known for his great gadget renders, to imagine the iPhone 7.

Apple will release a new iPhone this fall. This is for sure. Will it be an iPhone 6S or already an iPhone 7? Speculations and rumors run of course already wild ahead of the next iPhone release. For many Apple fans the iPhone 6 has design flaws that they are hoping Sir Jony Ive will fix in the next iPhone. German Computer Bild hired Martin Hajek to help Apple come up with a beautiful design for the iPhone 7.

Martin Hajek goes a bit beyond what is possible with his fantasy iPhone 7. The home botton is embedded in the screen for instance. This looks awesome, but is big technical challenge. Where Hajek did not go far enough is the screen bezel. It is way too big. A dream iPhone 7 has no bezel at all, especially on the side edges.

The iPhone 7 backside features a glowing Apple logo, which is a nice touch. The isolation lines run all around the edges making it look much cleaner. The question is if this design of the isolation gap is actually practical. A design without those lines would be preferable.

Hajek did design a dual lens camera that is not protruding, which is they way it is supposed to be. Overall Hajek introduced some nice aspects, but this iPhone 7 design is a compromise between fantasy and reality. Why not go full fantasy on a design?

It remains to be seen how important Apple thinks the current design flaws of the iPhone 6 are and if they need fixing. The reality is that the iPhone 6 sells extremely well. I personally though stick still with my iconic iPhone 5 – no lines, no protruding lens, just clean.
