- Jayden Smith cast as superhero ‘Static Shock’!
Walking Dead actor Tyler James Williams reveals Jaden Smith will soon be playing the superhero Virgil Hawkins aka Static Shock.
Rumors have been swirling since early October 2014 that Jaden Smith the son of Will Smith (Remember Karate Kid anyone?) will be starring as Static Shock in an upcoming TV series on the CW. However there has been no substantial proof to lay claim to the rumors until now.
Actor Tyler James Williams who stars in hit shows such as ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ recently sat down for a press conference and shed light on the fact there aren’t are a lot of superhero roles for young black actors.
While Williams was proclaiming the lack of black superheroes someone can be heard shouting ‘Static Shock’ and ‘Spider-Man’ behind him, the mention of the two superheroes brought forth some very interesting comments by Williams who stated he has no idea what anyone is talking about with a small smile.
Williams then it seems unknowingly stated it’s great to see Static Shock being played by Jaden Smith. The statement /4/have been said by Williams, during an interview with YouTube channel “Flicks And The City“, without any fuss but he probably had no idea he just proved months of speculation right.
Even more incriminating is the fact Jaden Smith has recently been sporting dreadlocks on his hair similar to the ones the superhero Static Shock wears as his signature look. According to the rumor mill Warner Bros. have been in talks to develop a live-action series on Static Shock with the producer of Django Unchained Reginald Hudlin on board the project.
The creator of Static Shock Dwayne McDuffie describes the superhero as just another average 15 year old who is worried about pocket money and not getting beaten up but with a unique twist due to his superpowers.
