- MMA Champion’s UFC Title confiscated after Run-In with the Law
The MMA champion, Jon Jones’ UFC title was confiscated after his run in with the law. It was a case of hit-and-run that he was guilty of.
Jon “Bones” Jones has got himself into a fine kettle of fish. The MMA champion seems to have hit a pregnant lady’s car in New Mexico with his SUV and fled the scene of the crash. Later on he was caught by the police and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, his UFC title has been revoked for an unknown period of time. The mishap took place on Tuesday. Jones, who is a mature adult, stands guilty of the misdeed. He showed his face in court and admitted to charges of felony.
“UFC announced that it has suspended Jon Jones indefinitely and stripped him of the light heavyweight title as a result of violations of the organization’s Athlete Code of Conduct Policy. Jones was recently arrested in Albuquerque, N.M. on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury,” UFC said in its official statement.
The authorities back at the MMA headquarters also said in their statement that they felt that the fighters should show a certain degree of prudence both within and outside the ring.

This was something that Jon Jones had been careless enough to not uphold and so he had to be punished for his extreme negligence. The lady that Jon Jones hit with his car was driving too and she happened to be pregnant. Her arm was badly injured in the accident that took place.
There are a lot of people that look up to Jones and want to see him succeed. I’ll be waiting on the other side with the belt – @DC_MMA— UFC (@ufc) April 29, 2015
In the aftermath of the accident, Jones ran away from the scene. According to an eye witness of the scenario, after his SUV hit the lady’s car, Jones got out of his vehicle and stuffed some banknotes into his pockets before entering the gate of a nearby community.
A police officer who happened to be within reach immediately recognized Jones and looked into his means of transportation. He found a pipe with marijuana in it and some rent-a-car papers.
Jones happened to be the light heavyweight champion of the UFC, before this repudiation of his title by the concerned authorities. Someone else will be fighting in his place now. His tweets revealed that he was sorry for letting others down.
He also spoke of how he had a lot of contemplative work to do before he could get back on his feet again. Jon Jones has gone against the dictates of the Athlete’s Code of Conduct instituted by the UFC.
To leave a helpless pregnant woman in an injured state after hitting her car is a very heartless thing to do indeed. Jones ought to be ashamed of himself for being so cruel and callous. He ought to have shown better judgment and exercised some empathy instead of showing the cold-blooded attitude worthy of a reptile.
Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I’ve let down.— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) April 29, 2015
