Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon quits twitter following criticism!
Joss Whedon quit Twitter and even deleted his account after being criticized for the latest installment of the Avengers film. Whedon’s final tweet thanked all the people who have been kind, funny and inspiring to him on the social media platform.
Whedon did not announce his decision and the reason behind quitting Twitter some many people believe it was due to the criticism Whedon received on the portrayal of the Black Widow by Scarlett Johansson in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The second film instalment of the Avengers was recently released and viewers did not like the sexism of the Black Widow, character along with the depiction of Quicksilver the lightning-fast superhero. Some fans even showed issue with the plot-line of the film and vented their frustration on Twitter vehemently.
Whedon had previously spoken about the challenges faced in filming the next installment of Avengers as if it did not make a ridiculous amount of money he will believe he has failed the fans and the entire process is tough.
Whedon even expressed his frustration with Twitter when he called the social media platform enormous work. According to Whedon Twitter is fun but takes a huge amount of space in his head and can also be compared to a drug as it is a full job maintaining an account.
After Whedon deleted his account many celebrities such as Patty Oswalt and Julie Plec took to twitter to backlash at the haters. According to those who supported him Whedon had been run off from the social media site by trolls who have no concept of liberalism.
Yep. There is a “Tea Party” equivalent of progressivism/liberalism. And they just chased Joss Whedon off Twitter. Good job, guys. Ugh.— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) /4/4, 2015
RIP Twitter Joss Whedon. Sad for us fans who loved seeing him here. But go ahead trolls, run him off. That’s what you do. Cc: Damon Lindelof— julieplec (@julieplec) /4/5, 2015

Feminist haters were also criticized for having set impossible standard to compare Whedon with. Even though it has been criticized Avengers: Age of Ultron opened with $630m global earning with the second-largest opening weekend ever in the US.
