Kitten Bowl takes on Puppy Bowl

The Hallmark Channel is broadcasting for the first time a Kitten Bowl, competing with the long-running Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet channel.

Now cat fans also get their Super Bowl. The Hallmark Channel will air today the first ever Kitten Bowl. The Animal Planet is running for the 10th year the famous Puppy Bowl. Will the Kitten Bowl take a bit out of the Puppy Bowl rating? No. Hallmark plays it nice and airs the Kitten Bowl already at noon (12/11c) today. The MPuppy Bowl X is airing after the Kitten Bowl at 3pm ET.

The Kitten Bowl will consist of two preliminary playoffs and a championship match. Along with basic obstacle courses of hurdles, tunnels, hoops, jumps, weave poles, lasers, lures and toys on strings, Kitten Bowl will feature clever locker room strategies, player profiles and interviews, and camera work and audio recordings from the athletes as they play the game!

This inaugural three-hour special event, in Association with North Shore Animal League America, will be hosted by TV personality and activist Beth Stern, and emceed by John Sterling, the radio voice of the New York Yankees.

All of the kittens participating in the competition are guaranteed forever homes through Hallmark Channel’s partnership with North Shore Animal League America whose innovations in animal welfare have saved more than 1,000,000 pets.  Kitten Bowl guarantees the 60-70 kitten participants will join the list of pets adopted into loving homes and will significantly raise the awareness of the plight of shelter animals across the country. The Super Bowl 2014 is finally here today. The Big Game will have the Denver Broncos face-off against the Seattle Seahawks. Besides the game there will be again a huge line-up of Super Bowl ads. Super Bowl 2014 will take place in New Jersey on February 2. The big game will be played in the Metlife stadium in East Rutherford. It will be the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl.
