Lady Gaga performs the four songs from Julie Andrews’ hit Sounds of Music hitting all the right notes
Lady Gaga seems to be embracing her elegance as she performs this year on various award shows. Her performance at the Grammy Awards was nothing short of breathtaking. She performed last night on the Oscars as well.
I’m so excited to perform at the #Oscars tonight. I’m honored to be wearing 3 custom Azzedine Alaïa pieces, his first ever for the Oscars.— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) February 22, 2015
The performance was different than any that she might have given in her extensively experimental career. She was chosen to pay tribute to the Sounds of Music. It was the films 50th anniversary which had been nominated in the year it came out featuring Julie Andrews and Peggy Wood.

The performance was introduced by Scarlett Johannson. She started by highlighting the impact of music in movies. Lady Gaga compared “Glory” by John Legend and Common which won the Oscar for Best Original Score with the musical excellence of movies. She then went on to remind the audience of another musical which had made history in cinema. ‘Sounds of Music’ was preceded by John Legend and Common performing their Oscar nominated track “Glory”.
As the applause for the performance down,, the stage transitioned into a magical theatrical set up with tall tree trunks and a four string quartet sitting in the gaps. From their like a fairy-tale character emerged Gaga dressed in a beautiful silvery white gown. Complimented with her platinum blonde hair, the star looked beautiful.

She started the performance with the movie’s The Hills are Alive. Watch her performance in below video.
Lady Gaga sung the song, hitting every pitch and high note perfectly and it was flawless on stage. She followed the song with “My Favorite Things,” putting a playful twist on it as she swayed and pouted while singing the catchy lyrics that are still adored today. “Edelweiss” was a simple and elegant performance in which Gaga showcased her finest vocal ending the performance at “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

It was a truly artistic and inspiring performance. Her eccentric style of statement might have eluded people to see the most honest and beautiful singer that existed in Gaga. That version of her seems to have won the Dolby Digital Theater by sweep, especially the original singer of all these phenomenal song, Julie Andrews.
As the performance ended and the lights brightened, Andrews made her way out to the stage to present the Academy Award for Best Original Score. That had to wait as Julie gave Gaga a hug with her most wonderful smile. It was truly a momentous moment and a truly beautiful tribute and the credit for its success rests on Gaga’s brilliant performance.
