Ford unveiled the Lincoln Continental Concept car that signals the future of quiet luxury and the all-new full-size sedan coming next year.
The classic Lincoln Continental is back. Ford unveiled today the Lincoln Continental Concept car.
“Luxury at its best is about simplifying and quietly exceeding expectations, rather than being the loudest statement on the road,” said Mark Fields, Ford Motor Company president and CEO. “The Continental Concept showcases the promise of quiet luxury from Lincoln going forward. It also is a strong indication of what’s to come next year as we introduce our new Lincoln Continental full-size luxury sedan.”
The Continental Concept’s exterior is sculpted with a sophisticated silhouette. Its all-new one-piece centered grille features a repeating Lincoln Star graphic. Advanced E-Latch door handles, tucked discretely in the vehicle beltline, contribute to the car’s clean side profile. Plus E-Latch door handles make opening and closing doors easier and quieter. With Lincoln’s signature Approach Detection, the car senses your approach and lights up to greet you, inside and out.
“The Lincoln Continental name is associated with iconic beauty and elegance. Capturing those qualities and building upon them drove us as we crafted this thoroughly modern sedan concept.” – David Woodhouse, Lincoln Design director
The signature full-width taillamp showcases advanced light-through-chrome technology. The Lincoln Continental Concept provides a smooth, powerful ride, thanks to a new Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost Engine and Lincoln Drive Control that offers clients a choice of three driving modes – normal, sport and comfort – to suit their individual preferences.
SPD SmartGlass tinting sunroof allows passengers to help create ambience, while blocking 99 percent of UV rays and maintaining and reducing interior temperature by up to 18 degrees Fahrenheit.
Designed for greater comfort and privacy, the Continental Concept offers rear seat amenities that provide a first-class travel experience. With the touch of a button, the rear passenger can reposition the empty front passenger seat, making room for the fully reclining rear seats.
The Revel Ultima System provides passengers with a premium audio experience and allows passengers to select one of three listening modes –Stereo, Audience and On-Stage. Active Noise Control alters noise levels to maintain the Continental Concept’s quiet ride.
Ambient Lighting enhances the interior environment creating a rejuvenating sanctuary. Soft gold LED lights glow from the underside of the center console and from the halo light overhead.
Rear-seat passengers also enjoy the convenience of a tablet lap tray that deploys from the Through-center console, a champagne storage compartment, and Venetian leather first-class travel cases.
The new Lincoln Continental has very appealing looks for a luxury car. It could compete with the British classics from Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
