Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted CMAs for the seventh time that was aired on Wednesday night at 8:00-11:00 PM/ET on the ABC Television Network. The main husband and wife, Lambert and Shelton, were among the top categories but it was Luke Bryan who got the Entertainer of the Year Award this time around. Bryan has just won his first ever accolade from the CMA. This was the 48th annual awards show and the venue for it was none other than Nashville.
The legendary Garth Brooks handed him the prized memento. Garth too once got the coveted award. Bryan horsed around for a few brief moments by saying that he had never ever met Garth before. He then hugged him and got off to some solemn spiel. He said that there were guardian angel spirits watching from above and they included his sister and brother.
“First of all, I’ve never met Garth. Hey, Garth. Can I hug you again?” Bryan said. “I have some angels in heaven, my brother and sister are up there and making this night possible for me.”

Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert and her hubby Blake Shelton won awards too (she got three while he got one). Lambert was the top nominee at “The 48th Annual CMA Awards.” Lambert’s nominations include Entertainer of the Year; Female Vocalist; Album of the Year for Platinum, which was produced by Frank Liddell, Chuck Ainlay, and Glenn Worf; two nominations for Musical Event for “Somethin’ Bad” with Carrie Underwood and “We Were Us” with Urban; and two nominations for Music Video of the Year for “Automatic” and “Somethin’ Bad” with Underwood, which were both directed by Trey Fanjoy.

And her song “Automatic” also picked up nominations for Single (produced by Liddell, Ainlay, and Worf) and Song of the Year for songwriters Nicolle Galyon, Natalie Hemby, and Lambert.

Keith Urban was also nominated in four categories this year in including Entertainer of the Year, which he won in 2005; Male Vocalist, which he has won three times (2004-2006); Album for Fuse, which was produced by Benny Blanco, Nathan Chapman, Copperman, Zach Crowell, Mike Elizondo, Dann Huff, Jay Joyce, Stargate, Butch Walker, and Urban; and Musical Event with Lambert for “We Were Us.”

Shelton spoke of how it was a very grand occasion for him and his entire family. Shelton’s tie breaker with two others, Vince Gill and George Strait, was something about which he said that it was a moment of extreme pride to be in the same category as the two.

Lambert on the other hand sang Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass. According to her she really gave it her best shot as far as the song was concerned. She also revealed that she had just turned 30. She said that she had written lyrics and sang songs with many of her friends and she really appreciated the support shown by her die-hard fans.
“I really poured my heart and soul into this one more than ever,” Lambert said while accepting album of the year awars. “I turned 30 last year and felt I needed to sing about new stuff. I wrote with a lot of my friends, sang with a lot of my friends … and I appreciate you fans supporting it and relating to it.”

Little Big Town too got an award for best vocal group of the year. The neon strips on the suits worn by the four members of the band were so delicately placed on their costumes that the slightest movements could short circuit them.
“I don’t know why we’re the recipients of all these blessings coming from heaven, but I tell you we don’t take it for granted for a second,” said Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman.

The group also sang two songs with Ariana Grande. Someone else remarked that it took a lot of planning to sew electric lights into the costumes. The duo act, Florida Georgia Line shone out with resplendence too. It’s good to be back, said Tyler Hubbard.
Brian Kelley said that all they wanted to do was play country music and so they were thankful to their fans for allowing them to do that. “Our fans, night after night after night you continue to blow our minds,” Kelley said. “Thank you for letting us do what we love. All we ever wanted to do was play country music.”

“This award means so much because our genre was built on strong, simple songs about real life,” said Kacey Musgraves while accepting the song of the year award for Follow Your Arrow.

There were several others at the CMAs who showed their heartfelt appreciation for the ardor of their fans. It was a star studded night that ended with fanfare for all. Country Music Association is the production company behind “The 48th Annual CMA Awards” while the executive producer is Robert Deaton, the director is Paul Miller, and the writer of the event is David Wild.
