MediaTek has become a prominent name when it comes to mobile phones and most of the phones currently in the market feature its famous processors. The strong point of the brand is that it has a wide range of products; ranging from the cheap budget phones like the ECOO Aurora E04 and JiaYu S3 and going to the top of the range with even the flagships such as the HTC One M9+. Phones have been a good area to tread on for the company but it is time to take the step forward and this time the leap is against Intel.
MediaTek announces MediaTek MT8163 and MT8735 – its latest pair of tablets processors. Both these processors have been designed with our cores and are based on the 64-bit architecture. The MT8163 is a mid ranger with a low cost ad is obviously designed for the cheaper range of tablets and hence limits options with Wi-Fi connectivity only. Mediatek has kept its range till A53 cores which are more than enough for supporting tablets with resolutions up till 1080p. It is going to work best with Lollipop 5.1.
The MT8735 chipset on the other hand is upgraded to support other connectivity options. This one has been designed with integrated LTE model for FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE, WCDMA, CMDA2000, full-mode 4G tablet TDS, and GSM networks. The hardware however is not much different from the mid ranger MT8163.
