Mitch Pileggi, who plays the character of Skinner, will be returning to the X-Files soon. The series is making a comeback.
There have been rumors to the effect that the X-Files, that turn-of-the-millennium-conspiracy-theory-laden-series, is about to come back on the screen. While things are being kept hushed up, it appears such is indeed the case.
And Mitch Pileggi, the chrome-domed boss is also returning on set along with Agent Mulder and Scully. The latter two make for an uneasy platonic friendship and are played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
Very happy to announce that Walter Skinner will once again be getting all grumpy and bitchy with his two wayward kids. Very happy.— Mitch Pileggi (@MitchPileggi1) April 20, 2015
The show spanned most of the 90s and especially had a cult following among the New Age crowd as the Noughties approached. The last episode was in 2002 and after that things went into a sort of abeyance. But the embers for the show are still intact and glowing. A film has already been made before the end of the series (that was in 1998).
Chris Carter, the maker of the phenomenon is back in form. And alongside the usual gang of intelligent human beings, the Smoking Man who is in equal parts mysterious and irritating, will be there to add to the mystique and intrigue the show is so famous for.
As for the haunting music, which is the theme of the show, it resembles the seven universal notes of intelligence in outer space played out in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The X-Files presented many scenarios of cover-ups and left one with the feeling that the truth was indeed out there.
