Google’s Motorola Mobility had Dennis Woodside as its CEO. That is until now. He seems to have taken a quick step to go over to Dropbox. It’s a less glamorous role as COO but that’s the way it suits Dennis Woodside.

A company that is speeding along its way in matters of online storage, Dropbox, is about to hire a new COO. Dennis Woodside, the CEO of Motorola Mobility will be shifting his allegiance to Dropbox. And this man brings with him a lot of hard-won experience.

Ten years of hard work at Motorola Mobility, under the tutelage of Google, have earned Dennis Woodside his technology chops. Dropbox recently made a sizable profit of $350 million. Barely half a decade in the making, Dropbox is worth a cool ten billion.

Meanwhile, Larry Page has wished Dennis the best of luck as he is headed on his way to Dropbox. Two current members of the Google team will take over where he left off.

Dennis was responsible for the Moto X and the Moto G. One of the obvious reasons for his immigration to another organization is the takeover of Motorola Mobility by Lenovo.

The fact that he failed to turn around Motorola’s kismet in the last days of its viability /4/have been another reason for departure. Whatever the case, he did a good job in his own time and place.

At Google, Dennis Woodside had taken the place of Tim Armstrong who meanwhile had departed for AOL. The Lenovo acquisition of Motorola was for three billion dollars.

Surely, Dropbox will immensely benefit from Dennis Woodside’s experience and expertise. As for the rest, it is all chance, luck and serendipity.
