Asking Prices Hit $6,000
Looks like the world is just going crazy for the iPhone 6 and people would go up to any extend just to get their hands on the latest Apple smartphone. The live example of this just came in front of us when eBay received 19 bids at around 11 a.m. EST Monday morning. These bids had been submitted for the iPhone 6 Plus Space Gray 128 GB auction being hosted by eBay. The phone came with the biggest of all perks of being unlocked, thus freeing the owner from the two year contracts and it was also confirmed that the phone would be shipped on the first day when the new iPhones arrive for sale on Friday 19th September.
The winning bid was $1,900 which was the last price quoted when 30 minutes were left till the auction close. Yes, you read that right. Of course the price soared up to $1900 but you still shouldn’t be comparing it to the $499 price tag because that is the subsidized price which locks the users into a two year contract with a wireless provider. The actual price of the unclocked version is $949 and this makes a little more sense why the bidders were totally psyched to pay $1900.
It is of course not the unlocked version which is making the price so high. One of the greatest benefits of paying almost double the original amount is having the iPhone 6 way before anyone is likely to have it. And we couldn’t pretty much tell that people are dying to get their hands on the Apple phone after the pre orders for the iPhone 6 reached record highs. The orders broke the record coming in at four million in number within the first 24 hours.
The demand skyrocketed in early days and those who weren’t able to place their orders are now left with no choice but to wait for October. And just as we had already suspected the wait for the 5.5 inch version, known as the iPhone 6 Plus is going to be even longer. Apple has already issued a warning that says that there is a high possibility of the shipment getting delayed by three to four weeks.

And according to CNBC, there are certain orders, particularly the ones coming from AT&T for iPhone 6 Plus, which can be delayed by five or six weeks. Of course this seems too long a period to wait for your favorite phone and this is why many fans are now turning hopefully towards online retailers including eBay and Craigslist. They can find plenty of people who would be willing to sell their fresh iPhones on a profit.
