Facebook’s Oculus VR announced to ship the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset to consumers in early 2016.
Oculus VR, the leader of the current wave of virtual reality solutions, announced announced that consumers can pre-order the Oculus Rift virtual reality system later this year and expect shipment in Q1 of 2016.
The production Oculus Rift builds on the presence, immersion, and comfort of the current Crescent Bay prototype with an improved tracking system that supports both seated and standing experiences, as well as a refined industrial design, and updated ergonomics for a more natural fit.
Oculus VR revealing the details around hardware, software, input, and many of the unannounced made-for-VR games and experiences coming to the Rift. Next week, the company will share more of the technical specifications.
Oculus VR hopes that Virtual reality is going to transform gaming, film, entertainment, communication, and much more. This is not the first time that the virtual reality promise failed. It remains to be seen if consumers are ready now to adopt VR. The render of the Oculus Rift is still showing a massive headset. Another factor for success will be the price of the Oculus Rift.
Oculus VR leads the current wave of VR solutions, but might get leaped by Microsoft’s HoloLens. For once Microsoft might be first to market with an innovative product. The augmented reality approach has likely a broader mass market appeal and actually will change how we work with computers.
