Scientists are now confident that the oil and gas exploration teams are the ones that are causing big earth quakes all around the United States.
Scientists are more than certain that it is the oil and gas drilling that is causing the earth quakes all across the United States of America, according to a report published on Thursday by The United States Geological Survey.
These earth quakes have been small in magnitude till now and they have done very little damage. Damage like cracking plaster, toppling bricks and have scared people on numerous occasions.
Some scientists believe that these shakings can increase and can eventually lead to bigger earth quakes that would to more damage. Oil and gas exploration companies are trying to get away with everything and they claim that more research is required so that all of us can reach on a conclusion to why there have been more earth quakes.
They don’t want their companies to suffer because of the earth quakes and this is why they want to continue their research for oil and gas reserves. But the way things are going we can easily see these companies will be forced to take certain measures.
Heavy regulations will be placed on drillers and in the future it would become more difficult to approve projects. When things are going to become difficult, many people will start to look elsewhere for jobs and the oil and gas research companies will have a terrible time.
The founding director of the Center of Global Energy Policy at the Columbia University Jason Bordoff told NYTimes that the potential for man-made quakes is an important and legitimate concern that should be taken very seriously by industry and regulators.
He also said that these companies and states should reduce the risks for everyone and they should take steps so that they could monitor their operations more closely. There should be tighter standards and waste water should be recycled properly.
The wastewater should be recycled from drilling and it shouldn’t by injected undergrounds. Oklahoma State has also told the concerned people that drilling is not leading to earth quakes.
