The recently launched chips will add more value for less money by bringing enhanced technology to the mid-ranged smartphones. Qualcomm has mentioned that the new smartphone handsets with newly launched Snapdragon 400 and 600 series chips will be loaded with high end features. Considering the Snapdragon 415 and 425 series, both of them will be utilized as a replacement of legacy quad core design of 400 series with octa core Cortex A53. Snapdragon also claims these chips to be 64 bit based on 28nm technology.

In addition to above mentioned major changes from its previous versions, the chip giant has also equipped these two processors with Quick-charge 2.0 as well as dual image signal processors which is claimed to have much better picture results in a moderate price smartphone. As far as graphics are concerned, Qualcomm claims to upgrade the GPU to Adreno 405, which as previously Adreno 305 in Snapdragon 400/410 chips. Though the upgrade is not too significant, but it does offer 1080p screen resolution. The only specification where these two processors differ from each other is the LTE modem strength. Snapdragon 415 is claimed to have X5 LTE modem, offering speed upto 150 Mbps, however the higher end 425 chip comes with double the speed.

According to reports, mobile handset manufacturing companies are not paying much attention to 600 series processors, since it appears similar to 400 in terms of specifications. It also appears as the smartphone manufacturers would either go for Qualcomm 400 series for mid-ranged or high end 800 series for high end smartphones. The major change in Snapdragon 600 processors is its newly upgraded Cortex A72 cores that is claimed to be twice the strength of A57.

Qualcomm did not release much information related to the GPU, however, the chip giant claims to acknowledge these chips as next generation Qualcomm Adreno GPU. Both of 600 series processors are loaded with X8 LTE modem, proficient to download speed of 300 Mbps. The main difference between these two chips is that 618 is installed with hexa core setup, whereas 620 comes with octa core setup.
