The device in question was a prototype and meant to showcase the LTE Broadcast
With the growing demands of consumers the phones and tablets were pushing hard on the Quad HD resolutions and it was quite evident that we wouldn’t have to wait for too long for a time when we would be having a 4K UHD display into a tablet. The excitement doubled when we actually saw it happening on the French Open at Roland Garros where Qualcomm had an unnamed Samsung tablet with a 4K display. The device carried no logo of any sort and it is said that it was merely a prototype.
The prototype was sporting a 12.2-inch, 4K display which was only meant to showcase the LTE Broadcast. The reason why we are calling this a 4k tablet from Samsung is that the design had a high resemblance with many of the current Samsung Galaxy tablets and inside it packed the Qualcomm 801 SoC.
Unfortunately we don’t have many details on this one and all we managed to get was this short demo and so we are not even sure whether this would only remain a prototype or whether the two companies will really get together to produce something for the public later this year. Having a 4k display on a tablet is quite thrilling and we will surely like to see one soon but we will have to wait and see if someone has that in store for us.
