Recon Jet Smart Eyewear Aims To Be Sports Version Of Useful Google Glass, only better
The Recon Jet smart sports eyewear is an interesting new development in the wearables industry and this one seems to be one step ahead of all that we have seen so far. This wearable, like many others (particular smartwatches), focuses on health and fitness of the users and it won’t come as a surprise if people started comparing it with Google Glass. But this is an improved version of the Google Glass and Recon Instruments were careful enough to take note of all failures which went in the Glass.
Whereas Google failed to determine any particular target segment for its product, the Recon Jet has very clearly defined the outlines of who it wants to target. The company has clearly stated that their use of technology is solely focused towards sports.
The product is intended to go with fitness activities such as running and cycling and just like people would take along and wear their iPods and MP3s, users would wear the Recon Jet which is fully ‘sports-functional’ with its accelerometers, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, altimeter, barometer and thermometer.
The display is yet another differentiating factor between the Glass and the Recon. The display in this case is located below the wearer’s eye whereas in Glass, the display is above the wearer’s eyes. So users will definitely not be facing any trouble in viewing the display like they did with Glass.
The Recon is an independent product complete with its own GPS, ANT+, Bluetooth and various sensors as opposed to the Glass which had to rely on the sensors of a smartphone. The Recon Jet is soon going to be available for purchase on Amazon and will cost you $699 US Dollars.
