Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge bends at 110 pounds of pressure

The Galaxy S6 Edge bends just as easily as the iPhone 6 Plus and becomes useless under 149 pounds of pressure.

We all know SquareTrade – the company which provides insurance plans for expensive smartphones. It isn’t surprising why they would be the most interested in finding out which phones have the tendency to bend or break easily. They have revealed the results of the internal testing of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge which show that the phone can bend pretty easily just like the iPhone 6 Plus. However, the Galaxy S6 Edge has a higher chance of breaking and becoming useless as compared to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Three smartphones were put through the tests by SquareTrade in order to figure out how easily they can break or bend. The three phones tested here included Apple iPhone 6 Plus which has already gone through the Bendgate scandal, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, and the HTC One M9.

“BendBots” were used in order to test these smartphones. These “BendBots” are like robots which have the ability to detect the amount of pressure a smartphone can take before it gives in to breaking or bending. The company says that these BendBots simulate the forces which are present when a person sits down with their smartphones in their pockets. The testing video shows that it would take 110 pounds of pressure to bend the iPhone 6 Plus as well as the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.

Though it takes the same amount of pressure to affect both the phones, there is a slight difference between the ways these two phones react. The iPhone 6 Plus results in a bent chassis under the pressure but the Galaxy S6 edge cracked exactly on one of the curved edges. However, both the smartphones were working after these conditions. The pressure was then increased and it was concluded that it would take 179 pounds of force to render the iPhone 6 Plus useless. The iPhone has shown more resistance as compared to the Galaxy S6 edge which was useless under 149 pounds of pressure.
