Star Wars panel reveal Rogue One plot

The panel of five people involved with the new Anthology series of Star Wars sat down to share concept art and a brief video from the latest stand alone movie Rogue One and answered questions about the movie at the Star Wars Celebrations Anaheim.

It was a packed house at the Star Wars Celebrations Anaheim for the celebration of the worldwide phenomenon. Tickets were bought and Star Wars fans gathered to know more about the revival of their favorite series. 

They were treated to a panel discussion with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, Pablo Hidalgo, director Gareth Edwards and Industrial Light and Magic’s John Knoll.

Kathleen Kennedy introduced the Star Wars Anthology to the attendees. She told them that all the movies that would be covering the story other than the main series will be included in the Anthology.

With that was unveiled director Gareth Edwards’ new stand alone movie; Star Wars Rogue One. Gareth said that he had to direct this movie as he couldn’t just let it be sidelined. The panel then revealed new facts about the movie.

Gareth reveled that the movie is actually about a band of rogue resistance fighter who take it upon themselves to steal the Death Star plans and save the galaxy. He then shared a clip of the movie and concept art of the new movie which ended with a room full of applause.

Several Rogue One crew members attached to the production include director of photography Greig Fraser, special effects supervisor Neil Corbould, casting director Jina Jay, and sound designer Chris Scarabosio.

The Star Wars veteran crew members working on the movie are co-production designers Doug Chiang and Neil Lamont, stunt coordinator Rob Inch, creature effects supervisor Neal Scanlan and co-costume designers Dave Crossman and Glyn Dillony.

Felicity Jones will play a Rebel soldier while Neil Scanlan will head the creature team. Star Wars: Rogue One and Star Wars Rebels are set during the same time period. 

The movie is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2016.
