Taraji P. Henson will be hosting the SNL on the 11th of April for the first time ever. And we can see her slapping Taran Killam as Cookie Lyon in SNL Promo video.
The empire star Henson is incredibly excited to be hosting the Saturday Night Live on 11th April and told ET news it’s a dream come true for her. According to Henson only legends host SNL and the fact she’s going to be hosting the show is a testament she is a legend now. Henson has already shot promos for the upcoming debut on the SNL stage this coming weekend.
Henson is one of the few black women to have ever hosted SNL and overall the tenth. Other famous African American who have hosted SNL include legends such as Oprah, Halle Berry, and the recent Scandal series star Kerry Washington.
The Oscar nominated actress Henson won’t be portraying the hard and bossy character of Cookie Lyon she plays on her hit series Empire. Henson stated the SNL producers gave her a few sketches but there was no Cookie Lyon sketch included in the selection, because SNL has already parodied the character of Cookie Lyon from Empire when Chris Hemsworth hosted the show in March.
Henson also shared her thoughts on the spoof of her character Cookie Lyon on Empire and declared she has watched the performance 10 times, as it was the moment she knew she had made it in Hollywood history. Henson related how her publicist called her and told her if SNL is spoofing you then you’re a legend.
Henson did not reveal any details surrounding her stint on SNL, as it would spoil the fun and anticipation. Fans on the other hand are excited to see her performance on SNL as seen by the hype on the social media. Henson is although famous for her dramatic roles but she has always loved comedy more from an early age.
